Description

Milky Way above the ocean of clouds. This image was taken during my recent trip to La Palma, Canary Island. The summer night turned out to be surprisingly windless for this location at an altitude of 2400m. I decided to take advantage of it and start shooting Milky Way panorama with my 50mm lens just right after astronomical twilight. While my setup was doing its job by going through the layout of panorama I was watching the clouds constantly creep into the caldera, a large hollow of volcanic origin, remaining the tiny orange stripe of light coming from the towns underneath. It took me more than an hour to complete sky and foreground exposures. And this hour I just spent in an absolutely calm and silent environment without any single blast of wind or shake of my gear watching the Milky Way shining bright in the southern sky. It was such a magic moment.
